Strengthening the Capacity of Our Diverse
Communities

About Us

IDC is a secular, not-for-profit organisation that champions inclusion, access, diversity, and intersectionality. IDC has been delivering services particularly for diverse clients experiencing multiple disadvantages since the 1980s. These services primarily relieve poverty and disadvantage. IDC’s initiatives have national, statewide, and local reach, with a particular focus on Western and South West Sydney areas. IDC is registered with ACNC as an incorporated association.

IDC prides itself on its diverse team, which encompasses individuals from intersecting identities. The team consists of experienced professionals who are adept at empowering individuals with limited access to resources and power, utilising their expertise to drive positive change within local communities.

Who do we Assist?

Services include programs and projects to assist various target groups experiencing one or more vulnerabilities including, but not limited to:

  • Older people
  • People with disability
  • Carers
  • Children and young people
  • Parents, carers and families
  • Women
  • LGBTIQA+
  • First Nations
  • and community members experiencing financial and/or social hardship

Our Service Priorities

IDC prioritises lifting barriers and challenges through the provision of free and accessible initiatives, and endeavours to meet inclusion requests (for example- Translating and Interpreting Services/TIS interpreters, specific disability inclusion requests, special dietary requests where catering’s provided, childcare, and/or transport assistance)*

*As a not-for-profit organisation with limited funding and resources, we may not be able to meet all inclusion requests. However, we will endeavour to help through information/advice/referral.
